Day 2: November 11

November 11, 2015.

Day 1 on my own, I successfully had 2 of 3 dinners on my new dishes. Lunch was a bust as I was on the road for work and just haven't mastered the travelling meal yet.
For breakfast, scrambled egg with salsa and a browned tortilla.
Dinner was BBQ chicken breast, corn and fresh sweet peas.
Progress, I slowed down for the two meals I had on the plates and am thinking about what I have, and will be eating. I'm also rocking the water intake.
Still motivated!

Day 2: November 11 - Dinner 11/11

So tonight at our staff meeting, our managers surprised us with some homemade chili (which I proceeded to garnish with cheese...obviously) :)

My coworkers asked about the plates project which I answered half-heartedly (getting stared at while you try to eat can be a bit weird for me). However, I'm glad this project is grabbing people's attention  so much so that they are asking questions. What a great start!

Day 2: November 11 - So chili it is on this cold and windy night...the bowl on the left isexactly 2cups as the bowl on the right..to be honest I didn't think itwas going to be enough just having 2 cups of soup... But you know, itwas enough and filled me up...

Day 2: November 11 - Portion Plates

Day 2: November 11 - Leah is a terrible, yet amazing person.

Every Tuesday(ish), Leah Rosenberg, who you met last night, makes the staff at the Bemis Center a cake! And as you all noticed last night her cakes are delicious and beautiful! Today's cake was no exception. I walked past it many times and finally caved... I did use my own plate though. It was amazing. I know cake in the middle of the day, for no apparent reason, isn't exactly the best choice to make, but I just can't turn down her beautiful creations. My justification: I am at least serving myself, and choosing the size that I want.

Day 2: November 11th

Most mornings I make a smoothie, but I had NO idea exactly how much I was making. Even healthy things in large quantities isn't good. Tomorrow I will try to use less ingredients- I'm never good at that because I throw in what I've got.
Other reflections from the day:

1. I ate some of the leftover pie for a mid afternoon snack. I really had every intention of eating the rest of it . . . it didn't look like much. Then not all of it fit into my small bowl so I heated some and had every intention of finishing off on a second round. After eating my first portion (like I said, I'm seriously addicted to sugar) I felt satisfied. If I had put it all on my plate right away I wouldn't have stopped. Having to go back and make a second portion gave me the few extra seconds to stop myself from eating more.

2. Bringing the dishes along is tougher than I thought. Dinner was finger food at a Bemis Auction preview party. Not healthy at all nor did I use my dishes. At the end a few of us spontaneously decided to go out for a beer. As I started drinking my cider I realized that I forgot my dishes. I should have been drinking from my cup! It was good to at least be conscious of it and hopefully remember next time.

Day 2: November 11 - Lunch - 11/11

Chicken Alfredo with broccoli. Had an apple as well. I had a few curious co-workers ask about my eating from this unique ceramic bowl. I feel awkward eating from such a nice bowl in such a casual setting, but it does the job.
