Day 5: November 14

Lunch out with friends at Spaghetti Works. It was 99% a failure. I packed the dishes, excited to use them in a restaurant for the first time, and got them there. I forgot to use them at the salad bar, but when I got back to the table I put it into the large bowl. They had arrived early and the kids were hungry so had just about finished when I arrived. Because of this I tried to eat quickly, forgetting to even transfer the lasagna. All of this rush ended with me eating fast and eating MUCH more than I needed. I should have cut it in half and served myself that, but I ate mindlessly without my dishes because I was in a hurry. Sigh. I need to slow everything down. Today was just an exhausting whirlwind trying to do too much. Sometimes less is more - in food and in life. BUT . . . it was fun to have company!
I traveled with the plates wrapped in brown paper and a plastic bag. It felt dangerous and make them not feel as important as they are. I didn't wash the large bowl I used for salad at the restaurant so I put a napkin in it, then wrapped it. When I got home it was all stuck to it and gross . . . I need to figure out a good way to travel with them.
Dinner - yogurt, granola, and raspberries. I was so full from lunch that I didn't eat a real dinner. I came home exhausted and lazy.

Day 5: rules & restaurants

Due to rules of Golden Corral I was not allowed to use my plate (you must use a clean plate every time you go up to the buffet and I only had my one plate). So no pic today :( but it was nice eating with my parents and siblings tonight with their surprise visit. The plates at GC were approximately the same size if not smaller than ours, so portions were easier to keep if your eyes didn't get too hungry. ;)

Day 5 - Game day

Good evening all!
Disclaimer, I'm still working in mastering the photo add, therefore "not in any particular order."
In Omaha for a mini staycation. Slept in and headed to the Old Market for people watching, window shopping and brunch.
I wear a Garmin vivosmart and so my new goal is to get my steps in before 5pm, walking the Old Market is a perfect place to get a good start.
We started breakfast at Wheatfields.
Polish Kielbasa and eggs, brûlée potatoes and ciabatta toast with bumbleberry jam.
It was a weekend remembering my Grandmother so it was the perfect dish. What's more local and Nebraska than that?
Using my portion plate and glass was fantastic and my orange blossom mimosa tasted extra sweet drinking from my new favorite glass :-)
I split the eggs and potatoes with my wife and still had leftovers, I added before and after pics.
I'm laughing at myself a little. We aren't a family that eats out much and just due to timing it seems like that's all we are doing.
Dinner at Granite City and again, before and after I successfully only ate until my body was full.
Normally I clear my plate, it was the way I was raised, never to waste food. I'm reminding myself that it is fuel, flooding the tank won't make it go faster, only make it stall.
Shrimp tacos with black bean salsa and a glass of Pinot noir.

Day 5: Prepping breakfast

One of my worst eating habits is breakfast. Everyday I would grab a granola bar and eat it on the way to work. I want to change that! So I started prepping yogurt parfaits a couple days ahead of time and then adding granola and using my small bowl. The outcome: a quick, easy, delicious and nutritious breakfast!
I used a plain Greek yogurt, apples, blackberries and strawberries and some granola from whole foods. Here is a photo of the prepping and the finished product.
