Day 4 November 14

Attended Holt International Annual Auction and Dinner...the salad plate was exactly 9"... For the main course the plate was a little bigger . The portion size was small... I was only able to eat the veggies and the chicken with Apple stuffing...I probably had more wine then I should have but it was so yummy...XD

Day 4: food & time -> I need more of both

Today was a rough day. Woke up late so I didn't eat breakfast and didn't have time  to pack a lunch. On top of that I had a gallery showing that night which kept me busy until 8pm. Needless to say, I did not eat until 9 pm. My boyfriend took me out to sushi at Blue Sake Sushi Grill at Eagle Run Dr here in Omaha. My phone was dead at this point so I will try to be as descriptive as possible. I ordered the Hotel Cali - I can't remember the exact ingredients. I used the plate but it was entirely disappointing - the transfer disrupted the nicely plated sushi and, because the restaurant was so dark, the colors of the ingredients within the sushi were hard to pick up on my darker-colored plate compared to the original white plate, making it appear less appetizing - color when it comes to food matters..at least to me haha. My dining experience taste-wise was great. I love Blue's sushi and the small portions (8pcs) surprisingly are very filling.

Day 4

Cheat meal AND all fits on the plates/bowls. Proud of myself!! Chose to include the healthy foods to balance out the "extras". Portioning definitely keeps me aware!!

Day 4 - challenges abound

This morning I had my usual fall breakfast. I love the fiber one multigrain toast, a little challenge butter and homemade organic apple butter with hot tea.
Logan and I had breakfast together. Lunch was on the run in Omaha, subway turkey on flatbread with lots of veggies it is.
Dinner was a challenge but it was fun bringing the dishes.
The waitress loved them and I know I ate less using the portion plate and dessert bowl.

Day 4: November 13

Breakfast-eggs, toast
Lunch- sandwich and homemade tomato soup. This is an amazing recipe! I omit the pasta and use the base.

Tomato Soup with Pasta and Basil
Prep time: 25 min   Total Cook time:  35 - 40 min    Serves: 4

Ingredients:
3 large
2 Tbs
1 med
1 clove
1 small
4 cups
¼ cup
1 tsp
¼ cup
1 cup
To taste
Very Ripe Tomatoes
Olive Oil
Onion, finely chopped
Garlic, crushed
Red Pepper (capsicum), finely chopped
Chicken or Vegetable Stock
Tomato Paste (tomato puree, double concentrate)
Sugar
Fresh Basil Leaves
Conchiglie (shell pasta) or macaroni
Salt and Pepper

Directions:
1.  Score a small cross in the top of each tomato.  Plunge the tomatoes into boiling water for 1 – 2 minutes, then into cold water.  Peel the skin down from the cross and discard (I actually just keep the skins). Remove the seeds and roughly chop the tomatoes.  Heat the oil in a large heavy-based pan and cook the onion, garlic and red pepper, stirring for 10 minutes, or until soft.  Add the tomato and cook for another 10 minutes.
2.  Add the stock, tomato paste, sugar and salt and pepper to taste.  Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.  Remove from the heat and add the basil leaves.  Allow to cool slightly before processing the mixture, in batches, in a food processor or blender until smooth.  Return the mixture to the pan and reheat gently.
3.  While the soup is cooking add the pasta to a large pan of rapidly boiling salted water and cook until al dente.  Drain, add to the soup and heat through.  Garnish with basil leaves if you wish.  NOTE:  Basil is added at the end of cooking so that its flavor is not impaired. The quality of tomatoes makes a HUGE difference in flavor. Use heirloom tomatoes grown locally (or your garden) if you can!

Dinner- Friends visiting this weekend! What a delight to have company! We had leftovers from Tuesday's dinner.

Day 4: Who I eat with

One of the questions on our survey was about who we eat with. I typically eat my breakfast by myself in my car. I always eat lunch by myself at my desk. And I eat dinner at home with my girlfriend and my spoiled dogs. Here is a photo of my very curious dogs. They want to know what these new things are in their house!
Also, while we are on the topic of dogs, here is a photo of one of my dogs at the bar with me on Wednesday!  In Benson, a lot of bars allow dogs to join you. I didn't get a drink at this particular bar so I didn't have my cup out. The first bar I went to I did have a drink and I poured it in my cup. The waitress came over and just stared at it for a minute and then said, "nice cup!"

Day 4: Lunch time

Ok...I do NOT eat lunch, ever. Today, I made a conscience decision, 'I WILL eat lunch today' and I did it! I do not prefer to waste food, so I decided to turn last nights leftovers into a soup for lunch. It was pretty awesome! Using my portions meal bowl, I filled up the 2 cups and sat down to enjoy my meal. I know what you're thinking! No, I don't sit down to eat very often, unless it's at dinner with my family and even then I'm usually up grabbing things more often than I am sitting still. This is an unexpected result of using my portion dishes. Another unexpected for today...I MEASURED out my chocolate for my afternoon snack! Yep, it fit into my snack bowl perfectly, along with some tasty walnuts. Look how beautifully it pairs with the snack dish. Food just tastes better off pretty dishes!

Day 4 Check out my plates and bowls!

Check out my plates and bowls!  My plates are not only 10.5 inches but they are also square which provides even more surface area. A bowl for ice cream is literally 4 times the size!
Morning breakfast of 4 egg whites, 1/2 cup oatmeal with coffe and creamer. Normal breakfast for me just in beautiful dishware.

Lauren - they are thinner and maybe a little more fragile AND very beautiful!!
My kids can NOT understand why I won't let them use the dishes. Maybe after the 30 days?!?  Probably not. 😄
